Discover Fanoos Grill

Walking into Fanoos Grill feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that knows its regulars by name. I first stopped by after a long weekday evening, drawn in by the steady stream of locals and the smell of grilled meats drifting out the door. Located at 25336 Crenshaw Blvd, Torrance, CA 90505, United States, this diner-style restaurant has quietly built a reputation for serving comforting Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food without the fuss, and that reputation shows up consistently in reviews from nearby residents.

From a hands-on perspective, what stands out immediately is how the kitchen operates in plain view. You can watch skewers hit the grill, rice being fluffed to order, and flatbreads warmed just before plating. That process matters more than people realize. According to research shared by the National Restaurant Association, customers associate visible food preparation with higher trust and perceived freshness, and this place clearly benefits from that psychology. Every plate feels intentional rather than rushed, even during peak hours.

The menu covers familiar favorites like koobideh, chicken kabob, and gyro plates, but there’s also room for customization. I once asked for extra char on the lamb, and the cook nodded like it was a normal request, because here it is. That flexibility is something restaurant consultants often highlight as a marker of quality service. The James Beard Foundation has repeatedly emphasized that great neighborhood restaurants succeed by adapting to their guests, not forcing guests to adapt to them.

Portion size is another topic that comes up often in customer reviews, and for good reason. Plates arrive generous without feeling wasteful, striking a balance that aligns with current dining trends. A 2023 consumer dining report from Toast showed that over 60% of diners value portion satisfaction over novelty, and that philosophy seems baked into how this kitchen works. You leave full, not overwhelmed.

Cleanliness and food handling are areas where diners are understandably cautious. During my visits, staff followed consistent hygiene practices, from glove use to frequent surface wipes. That aligns with CDC food safety guidelines, which stress visible sanitation as a key trust factor for customers. While no restaurant is perfect, I haven’t personally noticed gaps worth flagging, and online feedback largely supports that impression.

The atmosphere leans casual and welcoming rather than trendy. Seating is straightforward, lighting is warm, and conversations flow easily across tables. It feels family-owned, the kind of place where birthdays, quick lunches, and relaxed dinners all make sense. That sense of comfort is hard to fake and usually comes from years of consistent service rather than marketing polish.

Location plays a role too. Being situated along Crenshaw Boulevard makes it accessible whether you’re a Torrance local or passing through the South Bay area. Parking is manageable compared to busier dining hubs, which is a small but meaningful detail for regulars. In discussions with friends who live nearby, convenience often comes up as a reason they return here instead of experimenting elsewhere.

No review would be complete without acknowledging limitations. The menu doesn’t rotate frequently, so diners seeking constant novelty might find it predictable. That said, consistency is often exactly what loyal customers want, especially in a diner-style setting. The flavors remain dependable, the service steady, and the experience familiar in the best way.

In a dining scene crowded with concepts chasing trends, this restaurant focuses on doing a few things well: honest food, fair portions, and a welcoming room. That approach may not grab headlines, but judging by the steady flow of guests and the tone of local reviews, it’s exactly why people keep coming back.

  • Always fresh, great tasting appetizers and dishes you'll get in Fanoos. The chicken is always juicy and tender. They have a big portion, so most of the time, the dishes are good for sharing. The service is very efficient and friendly.

  • Phenomenal Persian food (hummus, kebabs, salads, grilled vegetables). Generous family-sized plates. The menu has pictures and detailed descriptions of all dishes - savvy. Bring cash or pay with Venmo or Zelle. Plenty of free parking outside. The place was packed, and people kept coming to pick up online orders. The food was seriously phenomenal, and we will be back for more.

  • My sister brought me to this place and I am so happy she did. Service was A1, The food was delicious and plentiful. I definitely will be coming back to try other items on their menu. The gormeh sabzi (prob spelled that wrong) was so tender. I had the beef. The other plate that was ordered was a chicken kebab. We also shared a baklava, which came with 2 pieces, which was perfect. And don't forget to try their persian hot tea.

  • This is a small spot for eating middle eastern grilled dishes. We had the lamb chops and minced meat kebab. If you like Turkish or Persian or Middle East style dishes this is a good place. You will have to buy a beverage ($4 or $5 for soft drink) since they don’t offer free water. Parking is free at the strip mall lot.

  • This place was amazing! Definitely not a meal that you'd want to miss. To start, the amount of choices available is quite surprising, but it is not a hassle trying to decide what to eat, as the menu has plenty of pictures to help you see what you'll be ordering. The chicken and lamb that I had were soft, flavorful, and came in good amounts. The plate I received was full, half with meats, a fourth with rice, and the other fourth with a delectable salad. The place is unassuming from the outside, but as soon as you walk in, you'll feel as if you are sitting in a small, family owned restaurant, on a remote island. Expect great service as well. The waiter was quick, helpful, and very helpful.

  • It's a small family like place to eat. The gentleman running the front is welcoming. It is obvious many of his clients that come to sit down are regulars. We had the 3 stew tadig, the combo number 2 beef and chicken, cucumber yogurt, and tea. Perfect delight for mom and I. We picked up some baklava to go.

  • They have a tent set up in the parking lot. It has walls on a couple sides to protect from some of the wind. It was comfortable and the food was very good. Extremely friendly service that is very accommodating. Awesome menu at a very busy location because they do it right. Parking can be a little tight but there are plenty options in the area to find a space. The lamb shank was delicious.

  • The place basically serves Mediterranean and mostly Persian food. It was our first din in experience there and the owner ( the gentleman behind the cashier) was very nice and helpfully. We ordered Combo5 which was chicken shank kabob, beef shank kabob, boneless chicken kabob, and beef kabob. I would give the chicken kabob 4.5 out of 5, and beef one 3.5 out of 5. We ordered Baghali Polo dish wish came late and our kabob dish got cold, and the Baghali polo wasn’t as I expected.
